Why?

Ok, ok, enough of my flowery speeches. Alternatives is a shrine dedicated to the non-yaoi alternate pairings of Gundam Wing. The world of Gundam Wing is dominated by yaoi fanworks, but slowly, non-yaoi sites are becoming more prevalent. However, most of these sites house the more "traditional" pairings of GW. "Traditional" referring to the pairs that seem most likely to occur based on the evidence of the show and also describing characters who experience a notable relationship/connection during the series. Being an avid Heero and Relena fan myself, one might wonder why I created this shrine. The answer is quite simple. Alternatives is for fans who are looking for something different. In the HY x RP dominated world of non-yaoi fanfiction, it's sometimes nice to see some different pairings for a change. Some of the most interesting and unique GW stories I have read are of alternate pairings. They are also some of the most challenging stories to write. I am in no way against traditional pairings (HY x RP 4ever!). I just want to promote diversity among fics and open-mindedness among fans.

Please don't flame me if you don't like any of the pairings. I am not defending the legitimacy of the alternate pairings. I just want to share the wonderful fanworks that bring to life the possibilities of their occurrence.

Remember…don't try to analyze any of these pairings. Just read the stories, look at the art, and enjoy the limitless possibilities of Gundam Wing fandom.
