It was so hard looking for a gift for Hilde now. Hilde has
everything, well she says she has everything.
She has me, she has the shipyard, and she has her little sister that
we adopted. She constantly says she needs nothing else.
So why the hell am I here?
Hilde's been feeling a little depressed since Selena went to summer
camp so I'm here to get something to cheer her up. I think a nice pet
would do the job.
This is the best pet store in L2. I checked it out; it has no
violations, doesn't sell pets from the mills, and has the best record
of customer satisfaction in all of L2.
It's just a matter of finding the best pet for Hilde.
I can't decide, should I get a puppy, a kitten, or a parrot?
Nix the parrot, parrots can learn words and Hilde won't find a parrot
repeating what I say have to time to be funny.
Its either a puppy or kitten. They are all so cute. Yeah, I think
that they are cute. Got a problem with that?
Anyway, I still can't decide. Should I get her the puppy with the
white spots or the grey and white kitten.
Then I see a kitten by my right. Its a little brown and white kitten
with large hazel eyes with a stub for one of her ears. She seems
really special. The cashier sees that I'm looking at it.
She says, "It's a little girl. She lost part of her ear when her
former owner cut it off. The SPCA gave her to us when we gave them a
huge donation last month."
I asked, "How much?"
The cashier says, "I'm not sure if she's for sale."
I say, "I'll pay anything, I just want her."
The owner steps in from lunch and figures out what I was asking for.
He said, "If you can promise me that she'll have a loving home, you
may buy her."
I said, "My wife and sister-in-law will adore her and I'll make sure
nothing ever happens to her again."
There must have been something in my eyes because the owner agreed to
the sale.
An hour later and twenty dollars poorer, I returned home.
I looked for Hilde in the garage, but she wasn't there. I walked into
the living room. Hilde was there, curled up on the couch.
I knelt in front of the couch, placing my bundle on the floor. I
nudged Hilde, saying, "Hilde, I got a little something for you."
Hilde opened her mouth as if she was going to tell me to go away, but
she perked up when she saw my package.
She said, "What is it Duo?"
I told her, "Open it Hilde?"
She opened it as the little kitten jumped out, shaking her tail as
she looked around.
Hilde looked at me, a smile on her face. She said, "A kitten? A
kitten just for me?"
I nodded. I said, "She's special, just like my special lady."
Hilde sniffed a little. She said, "I always wanted a cat."
I said, "Name her Hilde."
Hilde sniffed again before saying, "It sounds stupid, but how about
Stubbles? She's a special cat with a stub for an ear. Our cat."
I smiled as I said, "Stubbles is her name then."
Then Hilde flung herself into my arms. She sobbed, "You are the
bestest husband Duo! I love you so much."
I said, "I love you too Hilde but I need to breathe."
Hilde slowly eased up off of me. She said, "Duo you are so sweet.
What would I do without you?"
I smirked but I wasn't going to ruin the moment with a smart crack.
Hilde was feeling better than usual and I wasn't going to ruin her
mood.
My mission was done. I had an adorable cat and a happy wife again.
What else do I need?
