Disclaimer: No matter how much I wish it
did, Gundam Wing does not belong to me.
Warning: Once again, I have written a
Relena/Heero fanfiction. If you have something against that, I don’t want to
hear it.
Summary: Relena sits in her room,
thinking about the war. Then someone unexpected comes back! Read to find out
more (I won’t give it all away). All in third person, but thoughts will be
written in Italics.
Chapter
1- Remembering
Relena Darlian had lived with her father, the
Vice Foreign Minister for as long as she could remember. She had always
suspected he was keeping a secret from her even before the issue of Operation
Meteor came up, but she never would have thought it was that big. And then
there was the murder.
It
all happened so fast, it was hard to remember. Yes, it was a murder. She was
sure of that. Probably planned by that lady- Colonel Une. Her father was dead.
Her father- no, not her father… His last word rang clearly in her ears even
after it was all over, even after the war
was over.
“Relena
I am not your father,” he had said. She hadn’t believed him then. Now, after
meeting her brother Milliardo, she had no doubts. “Your real name is Relena
Peacecraft. You are the heir to the Peacecraft family.”
“I
blamed her,” she said coming out of her trance. “I wanted to kill Lady Une. I
wanted to kill her, because she killed him.”
“But
you didn’t because you’re Relena Peacecraft,” said a shadow. “And you’re a
pacifist,” finished Dorothy Catalonia as she stepped away from door.
“Dorothy!
You startled me.” Relena looked up.
“I’m
sorry Miss Relena. I’ll leave now,” she said. Relena was about to protest, then
noticed there was something different about her. As she closed the door Relena
saw that she wasn’t wearing her favored red dress and had instead exchanged it
for a black one. She must be in mourning
for Mister Treize, thought Relena.
I had no idea she was there. She’s getting
better. Not as good as Heero though. Better not think about him. Thinking
about Heero always made her remember the times before the war, because for her,
he’d started it. He didn’t really, he was just a soldier (if a very good one),
but he got her involved. This time though, her mind skipped the pre-war days
(she’d thought about hem enough), and went right to the day she met Heero.
Relena
played the moment through in her mind. Then she recalled all the other times
they’d met. Every time he’d said “omae o korosu” (I’m going to kill you). The
few times she thought he’d meant it. She took a minute to think about the time
he’d come to Libra.
There was a lot to think
about. He’d come for her. Yes, he’d come for Milliardo too. She didn’t deny
that, couldn’t deny that. But what amazed her still was that he’d come for her.
Why? Maybe… no, it’s impossible.
Relena looked forward to the
next time she would see the handsome Gundam pilot. He probably has a girlfriend, she thought with a pang of
disappointment. Oh well. Maybe he’ll send
me a birthday card. Of course I will have to rip it p if he doesn’t deliver it
in person.
On her last birthday Relena had found a card left for her on her plane seat. From the note she could tell it was from him. She looked at the window and yelled his name until he looked back. Taking the card in both hands, she ripped it in half, just as he had done with an invitation to her birthday party the year previous. She had then told him to deliver it in person next time.
She laughed. What had
possessed her to say that? She knew
he wouldn’t. Then she remembered that in response he had nodded. Maybe I will see him again.
She had to smile at that thought. But she was soon sullen again as she remembered that like Dorothy, she too was in mourning. She mourned for her brother Milliardo’s/Zechs’ absence. Whether or not he was dead, for the subject had been debated many times through, he wasn’t here. She, as well as Miss Noin and, as far as she could tell, Heero were fairly sure he lived.
Besides Heero, she saw the
other Gundam pilots frequently. They had become friends. She saw Wufei a bit
less. Besides Sally, he still didn’t seem to treat women with much respect, but
Sally said she’d work on that. She also saw Lucreizia Noin a lot. During the
war Miss Noin had promised her brother, Zechs that she would protect Relena.
Muffled yelling came through
her window. “I wish he would come back,” Relena said quietly, ignoring the
sound as she thought about her brother. “I will always think of him as
Milliardo.” It was a promise to both him and herself. But I wonder who he really is, part of her mind thought.
That was really short, I know. But I think it was pretty good for my first try. I did edit it from how I first had it, and I’m willing to do it again if you give me something to change. Responses welcome as always.
