Disclaimer: No matter how much I wish it
did, Gundam Wing does not belong to me.
Warning: Once again, I have written a
Relena/Heero fanfiction. If you have something against that, I don’t want to
hear it.
Summary: Relena sits in her room,
thinking about the war. Then someone unexpected comes back! Read to find out
more (I won’t give it all away). All in third person, but thoughts will be
written in Italics.
Important: There is a one-week break
between the last chapter and this one.
If You Wait Long Enough They Will Return to You
Chapter
3- The
Party
Relena’s
party was starting and almost all the guests had arrived, but the person she
most anticipated wasn’t a guest. “I wonder if he’s coming.” And if he is, what’s taking him so long? She
added to herself. “Could that be-”
“Excuse
me Miss Peacecraft. I was told to give you this.” The man handed her a letter.
She opened it slowly hoping it wasn’t what she thought it was. As she read she
let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. He was still coming.
But he isn’t here yet, she thought and
sighed. She sat down feeling lost (if you can feel lost in your own home). She
heard some people walk by her to greet a newcomer. I’ll have to get up soon,
she thought tiredly. “Better do it now,” she said getting up. Through the crowd
of people she couldn’t see who it was.
As
she saw feet approach her she decided to look down again. She didn’t need to
know who it was, just to greet them. “I’m Relena Peacecraft,” she said as she
curtsied. He didn’t say anything, but she could hear people in the crowd
murmuring about him. It is the polite form of greeting, she thought hurriedly.
Why isn’t he saying anything?
“Heero
Yuy,” he said and bowed. He watched as she slowly raised her head to see him.
The happy look on her face contented him. If she was glad to see him, he was
right to come. “May I have this dance?”
“I’d
be delighted,” she answered automatically but not without feeling. Everything
was happening so fast it was hard to take it all in. He was really here! Calm down Relena, she thought to
herself. “So Heero, why did you come?” she asked as they danced.
Heero leaned over so his lips were by her ear as he had so many times before. “Omae o Korosu,” he whispered. She tried to stifle a laugh unsuccessfully. She rested her head on his shoulder as she laughed. Heero smiled at her. It had become a joke now that she knew he would never do it.
Why?
Simple, he couldn’t. No matter if she knew who he was, the whole world knew who
he was now. I probably couldn’t even kill
her if she was in the way of my mission, he thought. Stop thinking like that, he told himself. I won’t have any more missions. Not anymore. Now my mission is her.
Just so you know, this was my very first fanfic. I
know it stunk. I had to hand something in to my Language Arts teacher. It was
the first thing that came to mind. (Kind of says something about me, doesn’t
it?) My other fics are much better. Still, I would appreciate feedback.
(Especially if it’s about how to improve this awful excuse for a fanfiction!)
And if you read my other story, Anything, I’m thinking of doing a sequel for that. Ideas for the sequel to that and a sequel to this that I started on will also be appreciated. By the way, I’m a stickler for details. If you see something wrong, please let me know.
